Weekend Review: Were you a big money winner in our Premier League pools?
Monday,March 4,2019

There was no shortage of drama this weekend, with two big derbies in the Premier League and another England collapse in the cricket, dominating the sporting action. It was all go at i-pools too, with more than £2,000 paid out in prizes to 75 winners across our 10 big money Premier League pools. But were your Premier League predictions good enough to scoop some of that cash? Here’s a look at who won what:

Premier League Coupon: 229 players entered the £500 guaranteed £2 table, meaning there was some overlay, representing better value for your entry. Kingg looked set to take home first prize, until the Merseyside derby finished in a goalless draw at Goodison Park on Sunday evening. That meant Kscott scored six points with the stalemate their Banker, and oneshirt three, to finish joint top on 20 points and both claim £150, leaving Kingg a point off the lead after their pick of Liverpool failed to secure a much needed win. Among Kscott’s eight and oneshirt’s nine correct predictions, were narrow wins for Man Utd and Man City, a crucial victory for Palace at Burnley and the draw in the North London derby, which was oneshirt’s Banker. In total, 14 players got their hands on the £500 guaranteed prize fund. Got what it takes to get a piece of the action in next week’s Coupon?

Fantasy 5-A-Side: Gdj1976 was victorious in the £2 pool, with their team securing a five point victory over second place. A clean sheet for West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski in their 2-0 win against Newcastle, scored Gdj 14 points, while Virgil van Dijk helped Liverpool keep out Everton to add 12. Romelu Lukaku was the big scorer, bagging 42 points as Banker for his brace in United’s 3-2 victory against Southampton, while Raheem Sterling and James Maddison made up their team.

Best of the Match Pools: Again, we ran a Match Pool for each televised Premier League game, starting with the fiery North London derby on Saturday. In a huge clash in the race for the top four, Aaron Ramsey’s goal after a quick break put Arsenal ahead early on, with Alexandre Lacazette missing two gilt-edge chances to put the Gunners further ahead, which was punished as Harry Kane converted a penalty that he won despite appearing to be in an offside position. But the drama wasn’t done there as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang missed a last minute penalty and Lucas Torreira was sent off in stoppage time.

Oneshirt continued their winning weekend, adding £30 for finishing top of our £2 Match Pool with five correct predictions, including Banking a draw, picking two or fewer goals to be scored and a penalty to be converted. CliveCooper won £73 in the £10 and £25 tables.

Cordy romped home in our Fulham v Chelsea Match Pool, with five correct answers securing a 140 point win and £30 in the bank. This was thanks to predicting a Chelsea win, with a correct half-time score of 2-1 and Jorginho to both score and be subbed off. Goals from Gonzalo Higuain and the Italian midfielder earned Chelsea a narrow win in their top four battle, while Fulham look all but down, 10 points from safety.

It was yet another stalemate in the Merseyside derby as Everton held Liverpool to a goalless draw. In a cagey affair lacking cutting edge, Jordan Pickford denied Mohamed Salah with a fine save, and the Egyption was also thwarted by a last-ditch tackle from Michael Keane. We guaranteed £100 in our £2 pool, with mbandrews scooping £50, thanks to correctly predicting a draw and a 0-0 half-time scoreline, with similar predictions securing withnail160 a total of £97 in the £10 and £25 tables.

West Indies v England 5th ODI: Another humiliating collapse saw the West Indies demolish England in the 5th ODI, to end the series locked at 2-2. On a pacey surface, England lost their last five wickets for two runs to post just 113 in less than 30 overs, with 22-year-old Oshane Thomas taking 5-21. Chris Gayle made mincemeat of the paltry target, smashing 77 off just 27 balls, bringing up his 50 in 19 deliveries - the fastest ever for West Indies, who cruised to a seven wicket victory after just 12 overs.

Chesterman69 picked up more than £150 for winning the £2 and £25 Pick 5 pools, with Gayle as Banker and Thomas scoring the majority of their points, Gayle smashing it up with 300. The T20 series gets underway tomorrow, with a Fantasy Pick 5 and Prediction games to play.

Saturday Racing Fantasy: Our racing Fantasy games are building up momentum for Cheltenham, with £500 won in our two afternoon race pools on Saturday afternoon. Gailshopes took home the £100 first prize in our £1 Newbury Pick 7, with Chesterman69 second on £50, which saw 15 players scoop a share of the £250 guaranteed. In the Doncaster pool, marsden won more than £160 for finishing first and second, with no limit on the amount of times you can enter, boosting your chances of victory. Keep an eye out for our Cheltenham pools ahead of next week, with at least £3,500 that MUST BE WON in prizes and £1million for FREE to play for across the festival!
