Monday,August 20,2018

The Premier League is back in full swing, with another big weekend of action, which included  Brighton shocking Man Utd, while Chelsea and Arsenal played out a five goal thriller. In the cricket, India are well on their way to victory in the third Test at Trent Bridge, with day three currently underway. With Crystal Palace taking on Liverpool tonight, all our Premier League pools are still to be determined, but here’s how they stand, and who won what in our other array of football, cricket and golf pools this weekend:

Premier League Coupon: With a game still to play, tristan chaplin leads the way in our guaranteed £2 pool, and is set for the £200 first prize. Tristan is six points ahead of FlopMyNutz in second, with both players going for a Liverpool win, who are favourites at x1. However, a surprise victory by hosts Palace, would score another one of FlopMyNutz’ entries 10 points as Banker, which would see them jump from joint seventh to take home the cash.

Tristan currently leads the way, thanks mainly to Brighton scoring him eight points as Banker, after the Seagulls stunned a below par Man Utd 3-2. Away wins for Watford at Burnley, and Bournemouth at West Ham, scored third points each, while Tristian’s only incorrect prediction at this stage was going for a draw in Leicester’s 2-0 victory at home to Wolves. Paullovatt is set for nearly £170 in total, leading the way in both our £10 and £25 pools.

Fantasy 5-A-Side: Although Raindog is on top of our £2 Fantasy game, that could all change with all of his players having played this weekend. The Yog and Mike in joint fourth are just four points off the lead, and still have Sadio Mane to potentially score them points which is certainly not out of the question. Sergio Aguero is currently the highest scoring player this week, with his hat-trick in Man City’s demolition of Huddersfield scoring the top 13 users 62 points as Banker, as well as £10 and £25 pools leader, Withnail160.

Beat the Streak for £1 million: It was a mixed week for players in our Beat the Streak for £1 million, with plenty falling at either the first or second hurdle. With a new game to play for the first 19 weeks of the season, we currently have two games live and a lot of you are still on course for 20 consecutive winners. Man City, who thrashed Huddersfield 6-1, Everton, who overcame Southampton 2-1 and Leicester - 2-0 victors at home to Wolves - were the most popular successful picks in matchday two. However, home defeats for Burnley, West Ham and a disappointing goalless draw for Newcastle at Cardiff, saw 25 players eliminated alone, in our week two pool. Who will you go for in our brand new matchday three game?

Premier League Match Pools: The standout clash of the weekend was Saturday evening’s thrilling London derby at Stamford Bridge, as Chelsea edged out Arsenal 3-2. Pedro and Alvaro Morata put the hosts 2-0 up inside 20 minutes, and it looked like being one of those days for Arsenal, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan missing guilt edge chances, although the latter made it 2-1, shortly before Alex Iwobi equalised. The Gunners missed plenty more chances, and were made to pay as Marcos Alonso won it for the Blues on 81 minutes, to leave Unai Emery still searching for his first point as Arsenal boss.

Seanlw19 picked up £36 for finishing top of our £2 Match Pool, selecting a Chelsea win, Alonso to score at anytime, and for the Arsenal keeper to make five or more saves. Paullovatt won more than £100 in our £10 and £25 pools.

Brighton made it back-to-back home wins against Man Utd, with a shock 3-2 victory against Jose Mourinho’s men. Centre back pairing, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly had a collective shocker, with errors contributing to Glenn Murray’s opener and Shane Duffy doubling the lead just two minutes later. Romelu Lukaku got United back into the game, but a Pascal Gross penalty all but secured victory just before the break, The visitors never looked like getting anything from the game, although Paul Pogba netted from the spot but it came too late to push for an equaliser. Tristan Chaplin secured £50 by winning our £2 pool, Banking a Brighton win and backing Gross to score at anytime.

England v India 3rd Test pools: England will be set a stiff second innings target in the ongoing third Test at Trent Bridge, with India’s lead standing at 362 at lunch on day three. After electing to bowl on a decent cricket wicket, only a late order collapse from India brought England back into the game, with Virat Kohli (97) and Anjika Rahane (81), leading the visitors to a above par 329.

Despite reaching 54-0 with relative ease, England performed their mandatory collapse, which was pretty bad even by their standards. Hardik Pandya ran through the batting with 5-28, to leave England 128-9 and only some late order hitting from Jos Buttler took England past the follow on target, to 161 all out. Half-centuries from Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara powered India to 194-2 at lunch on day three.

DirtyTackle leads the way in our £2 Fantasy game, with Virat Kohli as Banker, scoring more than 300 points. In our settled third Test pools, DirtyTackle came out on top in our day one Predictor, scooping more than £33 for correct predictions including more than 131 runs being the highest scoring partnership of the day. Gdj1976 picked up £30, for six correct predictions on day two, including Banking 12 or more wickets to fall.

Best of the rest: Dodger won £30 in our Weekend Special pool, making four correct predictions on the sporting action. NickW17 took home £90 for finishing top of our £2 Wyndham Championship Fantasy Fourballs, with Webb Simpson, Brendan Steele, Kevin Tway and Jim Furyk making up their team.
