That Was The Weekend That Was
Monday,May 9,2016

It's that time again to take a look back at the sporting weekend and run through the list of i-pools punters who were lucky enough to turn their predictions into cash. We paid out over £1,500 in prizes to over 50 different players; so let's see who joined Jamie Vardy in having a big party this weekend.

Our Premier League Fantasy 5-a-side was again our most popular Pool, 45 players went to battle in the £2 game with i-pools stalwart Salbags eventually claiming 1st place to pocket £51.61. Her team of Mignolet, Daniels, Gueye, Payet and Defoe scored 53 points, beating the unfortunate Tezza38 by a solitary point, who picked up £25.81 for 2nd place. We'll have larger guarantees on our Final Premier League Fantasy 5-a-side of the season next weekend, so make sure you keep some i-pools powder dry!

Staying with the Premier League, our longest running Last Man Standing of the season came to a conclusion after 11 weeks of battle. Jimmy The Lips and Mr Incredible had selected an amazing 10 winners in a row, but they both fell in Matchday 37 as West Ham and Newcastle failed to win. A fantastic effort from both players, 10 weeks is an i-pools record so huge congratulations! A worthy mention also to pcm37 and SWILLYBOY, who both pocketed £92.50 this weekend in another long-running Last Man Standing which had commenced in Matchday 31. Both players had put their faith in a West Ham win against Swansea, but were let down by a terrible Hammers performance. Congratulations to you both.

In the Championship, a 1-1 draw for Middlesbrough was enough for them to clinch the 2nd automatic promotion spot and the estimated £170 million which goes with it. Withnail160 saw this coming, and profited nicely from his prediction of a draw at the Riverside to bank £97 in the Boro v Brighton match Pool. Well played Sir!

It turned out to be a good weekend for tc73 and Suejinski too, who both scored an impressive 90 points in our Weekend Quickie to pocket £40 each. Suejinski was leading the whole way, only to be pegged back late on Sunday night as tc73's correct banker in Question 10 levelled up the scores. Well done to ggAAgg, too, who followed them home in 3rd place with a good score of 80.

Our Novices' Weekend Quickie Freeroll also saw two scores of 90, from Master4eva and giggles88, who shared first prize to bank £17.50 each. Well done to both for losing their Novice tag, and good luck in spinning up your i-pools cash!

There was a familiar face at the top of our Golf Pools this week – that man Mr Incredible again showed off his fantastic golfing knowledge by taking down the £2 and £10 Wells Fargo Fantasy Fourballs Pools to pocket over £115. His star men were Phil Mickleson, who earned his team 100 points for his 4th place finish, and Rory McIlroy who banked 50 points. A big well done to you, and to Darren and Suejinski who took home the place money. With the Players Championship on the Horizon this week, it'll be interesting to see if Mr Incredible can do the business again!

With the finale of the Premier League season this coming weekend, the Football League Playoff Semi Finals and the penultimate week of Premier League Darts, there really is no better time to turn your predictions into cash at i-pools. Well done to all the weekend winners, and good luck in the upcoming pools!
