It’s hard to know where to start on what was a blockbuster weekend of sport. Derby day on Saturday didn’t fail to disappoint, nor did the start of the IPL, while the Masters reached a thrilling conclusion on Sunday night.

Here’s a look at who won the pick of our big money pools:

Premier League Coupon & 5-A-Side: LaPlonk secured £205 for finishing top of our £500 guaranteed £2 Coupon, with a three point victory ahead of second place HanFDog. LaPlonk came through with eight correct predictions, including scoring four points for Newcastle’s impressive 2-1 win at Leicester and five points as West Ham came away from Stamford Bridge with a precious draw. Burnley’s fine 2-1 victory at Watford bagged three points, while Man Utd’s sensational comeback in the Manchester derby scored LaPlonk 10 points as Banker, to help win the cash.

In the £2 Fantasy game, Tag777 picked up £55 for their winning team. Brighton goalkeeper Mat Ryan scored five points as the Seagulls were held 1-1 to Huddersfield, while Virgil van Dijk added 10 helping Liverpool keep a clean sheet in their goalless Merseyside derby draw. West Ham’s Marko Arnautovic bagged 14 points as a x2 multiplier and Jamie Vardy scored 12 points after scoring in Leicester’s defeat to Newcastle. But after scoring twice in Tottenham’s 2-1 win at Stoke, Christian Eriksen was their big scorer with 55 points as Banker.

Derby Day Match Pools: It wasn’t exactly a great start to derby day on Saturday, as a much changed Liverpool played out a bore goalless draw at Everton in the Merseyside derby. Despite dominating possession, Liverpool failed to create many clear cut chances and it was Everton who went closest to winning, missing two big late chances in their bid to secure a first league win over their rivals since 2010. Paullovatt won £30 in our £2 Match Pool, thanks mainly due to Banking a draw, which scored 120 points, and picking two or fewer goals to be scored.

If the Merseyside derby was a dull affair, it was quite the opposite at the Etihad as City and United played out one of the games of the season. Goals from Vincent Kompany and Ilkay Gundogan put City 2-0 ahead inside half an hour and it looked like they would be celebrating their third Premier League crown. But after Raheem Sterling missed two guilt edged chances, out of nowhere Paul Pogba scored a two minute brace before Chris Smalling won it for United shortly after, although it did take a world class save from David de Gea to deny City at least a draw. Marky3285 won £55 in our £2 pool, scoring 160 points for Banking a United win, while also correctly predicting that there would be 12 or more corners to be taken and that either team would come from behind to win.

IPL Fantasy Pick 5’s: The IPL returned with a bang after a thrilling and dramatic opener between defending champions Mumbai Indians and the returning Chennai Super Kings. Krunal Pandya smashed 41 off 22 balls to help Mumbai post 165, and it looked like being a big victory for the hosts after reducing the Super Kings to 84-6 then 118-8, with debutant Mayank Markande taking three wickets. But despite needing 47 from just three overs with two wickets in hand, Dwayne Bravo smashed 68 off 30 balls before falling with seven runs needed off the final over, in which a hobbling Kedar Jadhav smacked a six and a four to seal a remarkable victory. TOWIF was the victor in our £2 Pick 5, winning £55 for their team of Ishan Kishan, Faf du Plessis, Hardik Pandya, Markande as Banker and Harbhajan Singh.

Sunday’s big game saw Kolkata Knight Riders beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by four wickets with seven balls to spare. Brendon McCullum and AB de Villiers both hit rapid 40 plus scores to help RCB post 176, but Sunil Narine made the total look palty, smashing a 17 ball 50 as opener. Despite a few wobbles, KKR were never in any trouble as they won with plenty of time remaining. SPA won £55 in our pool, for their winning team of Nitish Rana, de Villiers as Banker, Chris Woakes, Kuldeep Yadav and Piyush Chawla.

The Masters pools: It was a brilliant finish to the Masters at Augusta as Patrick Reed held his nerve to see off Rickie Fowler and Jordan Spieth to win his first major title. After leading since the second round, Reed secured a one-shot win on the 18th despite pressure from Fowler who shot a final round 67, with Spieth coming in at 64 with nine birdies.

We paid out thousands in prizes across the four days of top golfing action, with Shugster winning £85 of the guaranteed £200 in our tournament long Predictor, while TomWBA picked up just under £300 in our Fantasy Pick 6. His team consisted of Spieth, Reed, Matt Kuchar, Patrick Cantlay, Russell Henley and Cameron Smith.

What’s coming up this week at i-pools: There’s plenty going on this week, with the second legs of the Champions League quarter-finals taking place, and we’re running a Coupon, Fantasy 5-A-Side and Match Pools for each game. The IPL continues with a Pick 5 to play every day so come on down and turn your sporting predictions into big winnings!
