That Was The Weekend That Was
Monday,October 23,2017

There was no let up in Premier League entertainment this weekend, as the shocks and drama continued. Once more, we gave away thousands in prizes across our Prem games, while there was also plenty won in our golf, NFL, rugby and F1 pools. Here’s a look at who were the big winners on another busy weekend of sporting action:

Marsden21 was the big winner in our £2 Premier League Coupon, claiming the £205 first prize piping tristan chaplin by just three points. This was despite just correctly predicting three of the 10 results, but the ones that came through, had big multipliers. Brighton scored Marsden four points for their surprising 3-0 win at the Olympic Stadium, against struggling West Ham. Bournemouth claimed a vital three points away to Stoke, which also scored four points but it was Huddersfield’s shock 2-1 victory at home to Man Utd which stole the headlines.

Goals from Aaron Mooy and Laurent Depoitre put the Terriers 2-0 up just after the half hour mark, while Marcus Rashford’s late goal wasn’t enough to deny the home side an historic win. That was worth a mammoth 18 points as Banker in our Coupon, which both the top two players selected. But Tristan’s other correct predictions of wins for Man City, Spurs and Southampton could only score a combined five points, although he still went away with £105.

West Ham’s shambolic 3-0 defeat at home to Brighton knocked out 13 of you in our £5 Matchday nine Beat the Streak for £1million. Glenn Murray opened the scoring before Jose Izquierdo doubled the lead with a stunner just before the break and Murray’s late penalty sealed the win. For Banking a Brighton win and picking Murray to score at anytime, Mr Incredible walked away with £50 for finishing top of our £2 Match Pool.

Elsewhere in our Beat the Streak, six players fell at the first hurdle after picking Man Utd, who were embarrassed at Huddersfield. 20 users cruised into next week after Man City’s easy 3-0 win against Burnley as City continued their unbeaten start to the season. A quick reminder that our Matchday 10 game is now open to join, so start your journey to £1million, by picking the first of 20 consecutive winners now!

There was a split for first place in our Five-A-Side, with UpTheChels and JaffaCake each winning £40. UpTheChels’ team included Ederson in goal, who scored 12 points for helping City keep a clean sheet in their win against Burnley, David Luiz in defence, Rashford, who scored 12 points after scoring at Huddersfield, and Stoke’s Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in midfield, and Harry Kane as Banker upfront, who bagged 52 points for his brace against Liverpool.

Jaffacake had David de Gea in goal, Alfie Mawson at the back, who scored 12 points including 10 for his goal in Swansea’s 2-1 defeat against Leicester, Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah, who netted for Liverpool, in midfield and Kane as Banker in attack..

Among our Match Pools this weekend was Chelsea’s 4-2 victory against Watford, which was a fairly lucky win to say the least. After an early Pedro goal, Abdoulaye Doucoure levelled on the stroke of half-time before Roberto Pereyra put Watford ahead just after a shocking miss from Richarlison, who also somehow put a close header wide minutes later. But substitute Michy Batshuayi made it 2-2, before Cesar Azpilicueta and Batshuayi again, scored two late goals to deny Watford a deserved point.

Tristan Chaplin was victorious in our Match Pool, winning £41 for Banking a Doucoure goal at x6, and correctly predicting that there would be a goal scored after 80 minutes.

Everton’s shocking season continued with a 5-2 home defeat to Arsenal, in another uninspiring display. This was despite Wayne Rooney’s stunner giving them the lead, but Idrissa Gueye’s sending off at 2-1 virtually ended their chances, and late goals from Alexandre Lacazette, Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez completed the rout.

Paul Seaton stormed to £42 by winning our Match Pool, after selecting an Arsenal win, picking Ozil to score as Banker, Williams to be booked at anytime and choosing Arsenal to win by two or more.

Spurs continued their fine form with a convincing 4-1 win at Wembley against Liverpool. Kane and Son pounced on some shocking defending from Dejan Lovren to put Spurs 2-0 up inside 15 minutes, before Salah gave Liverpool half a chance. Dele Alli and Kane then punished Liverpool for some more awful defending to complete the crushing victory.

Gary07, mfcrip1986 and Ballj all took home £32.43 in our Match Pool for finishing joint top. They all Banked Harry Kane to score two or more, and picked Spurs to win, while mfcrip was the only one to go against picking Kane to score at anytime, and went for Coutinho instead.

In our European Champions Cup Handicap Coupon for week 2, Andy1990 and Southee9 finished joint top to earn £15.84 each. A Bath win against Scarlets was Southee’s Banker, while Exeter Chiefs impressive victory away to Montpellier scored Andy double points as Banker. Both players also correctly predicted wins for Leinster, Leicester Tigers and La Rochelle.

Yet another tie for first took place in our NFL Sunday Handicap Coupon, with Jimbo and drdevious each winning £21.78. Both players scored points for picking New Orleans, Los Angeles, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Dallas, LA Chargers, Seattle and New England.

Lewis Hamilton is on the verge of his fourth F1 title, after winning the US Grand Prix. Peter-27 was the winner of our Pick 6, winning £40 for his team of Hamilton, Verstappen, Ocon, Vandoorne, Kvyat and Hartley.

The League Cup takes centrestage this midweek, with Match Pools and Coupons open to play, along with some ODI and T20 cricket Pick 5’s, as well as our array of Premier League games this weekend, so jump on in!
