The final day of the Championship this Sunday promises to provide more drama in a season full of twists and turns. Arguably one of the most competitive leagues in the world has lived up to that billing throughout the season and there’s plenty still to be settled on Sunday.

While Wolves have already sealed the title, it’s between Cardiff and Fulham as to who takes the second automatic spot, with Neil Warnock’s men a point ahead of the Cottagers. The final play-off place is up for grabs with Derby in pole position, two points ahead of Preston in seventh. If that wasn’t enough, the relegation battle continues to fascinate, with five teams - Reading, Birmingham, Barnsley, Burton & Bolton - still involved, with Burton and Bolton currently occupying the last two spots in the danger zone ahead of already relegated Sunderland.

You can enjoy what will surely be a dramatic final day right here at i-pools, with a tidy amount of cash up for grabs across our pools. We’re running a Coupon for matchday 46, which has at least £100 guaranteed in the prize fund if you play for £2. Simply predict the results of all 12 games, with a correct result worth a point, multiplied by the figure in brackets next to each team, i.e if Ipswich beat Middlesbrough, you’ll score four points. Scoop the most points to secure the biggest share of the prize fund.

We’ve got a Goals Coupon for you to play, where you must predict how many goals will be scored in each match. On top of that, we’re running a Match Pool for the live game - Cardiff v Reading - which has huge implications at both ends of the table. Here you will make seven predictions on the key events, such as the match result, anytime goalscorer,  how many goals will be scored, time of the first goal and more.

Here’s a look at the big matches and which way you might go in our Coupons and Match Pool:

Birmingham v Fulham: This clash at St Andrew’s is one of four involving teams going for promotion against sides fighting for their lives. Birmingham in fifth bottom two points ahead of Burton in 22nd, need a point to guarantee their safety, while a win for Fulham will seal promotion if Cardiff fail to beat Reading. The Blues have improved under Garry Monk but one win in five leaves them fighting for their lives on the final day once again, and the league’s lowest scorers will have their work cut out against Fulham.

The Cottagers are unbeaten in 23 games, winning 18, and it’s hard to see them failing to secure three points in Birmingham, at x2 in our Coupon. With plenty of goals in them, three or more to be scored at x2 in our Goals Coupon could well be a good shout.

Prediction: Birmingham 1-2 Fulham

Cardiff v Reading: A win will do for Cardiff to secure a remarkable and unlikely promotion, while Reading need a point to confirm their safety. Neil Warnock took over Cardiff in relegation trouble 18 months ago and has transformed them into promotion contenders despite limited resources compared to big spenders such as Wolves and Middlesbrough. On the other hand, last season’s beaten play-off finalists Reading, have been in dreadful form winning just three times in 2018, which ultimately cost Jaap Stam his job. A couple of wins under new boss Paul Clement looked like being enough but four games without a win has put them back in danger.

Reading are x7 to spring a surprise, and despite a couple of defeats in recent games with the pressure on, you’d back Cardiff at x1 to hold their neve and seal promotion. In our Match Pool, in what will be a nervy affair, two or fewer goals at x1 might not be a bad shout, while key man Junior Hoilett, with 11 goals this season, could be a smart choice at x2 to score at anytime.

Prediction: Cardiff 1-0 Reading

Derby v Barnsley: In yet another match with implications at both ends of the table, a point should be enough to seal a play-off spot for Derby, who are two points and nine goals better off than Preston. A huge win for Barnsley against Brentford last week puts them ahead of Burton on goal difference, with another victory enough to survive once more.

It seems as though Derby struggle most when the pressure is on, as three defeats in a row before their recent four points from two games, would suggest. Two seasons ago they fell short against Hull in the play-off semi-finals, a year after they threw away their sixth position on the final day. Will history repeat itself? Barnsley are x5 to get the win they need but a draw at x3 seems more likely, which would be good enough for Derby but maybe not for the Tykes.

Prediction: Derby 1-1 Barnsley

Preston v Burton: Both Derby and Barnsley will have an eye on what happens at Deepdale. Preston need a win and for Barnsley to help them out in order to secure sixth, while Burton have to win and hope either one of Reading, Birmingham or Barnsley lose in order to survive.

Both teams are in good form, with Nigel Clough’s Burton winning three on the bounce, including two late goals at Sunderland, after it looked like all hope was lost of survival. Preston have won three in four to keep their play-off hopes alive, and it would be quite achievement given their budget if Alex Neil’s side have the chance of playing Premier League football for the first time. With so much riding on it, it’s tough to call despite Burton being outsiders at x5 but I fancy the Brewers to pull off another great escape.

Prediction: Preston 1-2 Burton.

Elsewhere, Bolton need to beat Nottingham Forest and hope other results go their way to survive, but with six defeats in their last seven games, it’s going to be a tough ask for them to avoid an immediate return to League One.

If our predictions come though, it will be Cardiff joining Wolves in the Premier League next season, while Derby will keep hold of sixth. Reading and Birmingham would survive despite last day defeats, leaving Bolton and Barnsley facing the drop.
